Angel Falls is owned and operated by Jim King and Rafael Oletta. Specializing in Venezuelan coffee,
Angel Falls is named for the majestic waterfall – the highest in the
world – in Oletta’s native Venezuela.
Here in our store, we make coffee with an eye towards creating coffee that maximizes the unique
flavor of each bean. Grown in the fertile, far western region of Venezuela, these beans are some
of the finest in the world.
As master roaster, Oletta takes care with his coffee, coaxing
from it the best in flavor and aroma.
That same care is taken when choosing the store’s extensive selection of chocolates.
Some of the finest and rarest cacao beans in the world come from Venezuela. Angel Falls is proud
to offer Venezuelan El Rey Chocolates. A taste unlinke anything else,
Venezuelan chocolate must be savored to be appreciated – much like its coffee.
Jim was born and raised in Akron, Ohio and then moved to Seattle, Washington
where he attended the University of Washington. His careers have ranged from
oceanography to software development and sales. Jim handles the business and
financial end of Angel Falls Coffee Company, as well as its day-to-day operations.
Rafael was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela. He was educated in Caracas,
Madrid, and at Sonoma State University, located in the wine-growing region of Northern California.
Coffee beneficios and cacao haciendas go back over two hundred years in his family.
The Venezuelan connection is still very strong; hence Angel Falls Coffee Company is one of only
a few and the foremost Venezuelan coffee retailer and roaster located in the United States. Rafael
is co-owner and roast master at Angel Falls.
